NND International put together a substantial Maskandi project with Amalambu, a 12-track album released on April 10, 2025. Running for about 56 minutes, the project gives the group plenty of room to move through different stories, emotions and everyday experiences while staying connected to their musical identity.
The album title, “Amalambu,” gives the project a distinctly local character from the beginning. One of the album’s strengths is simply its variety. “Uxolo” brings the idea of peace and forgiveness, “Icala” carries a more serious title, while “EmaTarven” and “Asinendaba” point toward completely different situations. Even the tempos vary noticeably across the project, showing that NND International are not relying on one formula.
