New Song: NND International Amalambu Download Mp3
NND International put together a substantial Maskandi project with Amalambu, a 12-track album released on April 10, 2025. Running for about 56 minutes, the project gives the group plenty of room to move through different stories, emotions and everyday experiences while staying connected to their musical identity.
The album title, “Amalambu,” gives the project a distinctly local character from the beginning. Rather than feeling like a collection of unrelated songs, the tracklist moves through titles such as “Uxolo,” “Umnumzane,” “Icala,” “Abathakathi,” “Ngubane” and “Asinendaba,” each suggesting another story waiting to be told.
NND International
NND International have built their catalogue around Maskandi, with Amalambu following earlier projects including NND INTERNATIONAL, Impi Yenja Nenazaretha and Amanz’ Esdumbu. Their streaming catalogue also includes collaborations such as “Nomgcagco” with Mthandeni Sk.
What makes the group interesting is the way they use the traditional storytelling character of Maskandi while continuing to release music for contemporary listeners. Their songs can move between personal matters, relationships, social observations and everyday life without losing that distinctly South African identity.
Amalambu
The album opens with “Imnandi,” followed by the title track “Amalambu” and “Uxolo.” Later come “Umnumzane,” “Emanxiweni,” “Icala,” “Iso,” “EmaTarven,” “Bayakhala” featuring Kwazi Nsele, “Abathakathi,” “Ngubane” and “Asinendaba.”
One of the album’s strengths is simply its variety. “Uxolo” brings the idea of peace and forgiveness, “Icala” carries a more serious title, while “EmaTarven” and “Asinendaba” point toward completely different situations. Even the tempos vary noticeably across the project, showing that NND International are not relying on one formula.
Conclusion
Amalambu is a sizeable addition to NND International’s Maskandi catalogue, giving listeners 12 tracks filled with different stories and moods.
It is the sort of album that rewards taking your time with it. Twelve songs means there is plenty to discover, and somewhere in that tracklist, there is probably a story that sounds suspiciously familiar.
