‘Everything Will Be Revealed’: Emtee’s Mom On GBV Accusations

Rapper Emtee, real name Mthembeni Ndevu, has the backing of his friends and family in the lawsuit against him for gender-based violence (GBV).

His mother, Phathiswa Ndevu, told Drum Magazine that the truth will be out shortly after the Manando hitmaker’s wife, Nicole Chinsamy, accused him of abusing her last month.

Emtee’s mother was speaking outside the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 25 April, to show her son support.

Phathiswa informed the publication that she was opposed to individuals using violence to settle disputes.

“The truth of the person who is being abused will be revealed. It is wrong to use something like this because it can tarnish his image forever, but everything will be revealed, the real person who is being abused is the person who was able to come to court early today,” she said.

According to the publication, a heavily pregnant Nicole arrived to court when proceedings were done. The State prosecutor revealed that the complainant has filed for withdrawal, however, they are postponing. This was also corroborated by Emtee’s lawyer, Dumisani Motsamai.

Nicole’s abuse claims came during Entee’s Instagram Live last month.

In the video, the father-of-two was heard having an argument with his mother-in-law who said she was in his house to protect her daughter from him.

“This is what he did to me,” she says. “Show them what you did to me, how you beat me up on Valentine’s Day here’s the proof,” she tells Emtee.

“Here’s the proof. Beat me up while I’m seven months pregnant,” she adds.

Emtee denied the claims during the live video and on Twitter.

This is not the first time that the couple is rocked by abuse accusations. In 2020, Emtee accused Nicole of abusing him. He also claimed that she would often call her family members to assault him.

“Both mother and daughter took turns, choking me, trying to suffocate me. Now the weight-lifting brother is threatening to kill me,” wrote Emtee on Twitter at the time.

“Can I be single, please? I’m a man of peace. Somebody, please help! She even called the police on me twice, but I was completely innocent. They even took my weed. She says I hit her but it is the other way around, and she cusses at me,” he said in another tweet.

Nicole, on the other hand, issued a statement claiming that Emtee’s charges were fake and intended to “tarnish” her reputation.
