VIDEO: Nadia Nakai Finally Addresses Kaya 959’s Sammy T Drama

Nadia Nakai has been on the media circuit for several weeks. This follows the rapper’s apparent efforts to increase her YouTube presence as a content creator. Nakai, in particular, appears to be attempting to corner the YouTube shorts market as she prepares to release more new music following the success of her collaborative single with Anele “Ney the Bae” Zondo titled Slim Thick.

As a result of the assumed attention she has conducted a number of features on various YouTube based podcasts. The latest was on The Episode. During her in depth interview Nadai addressed a number of aspects of her private life including her relationship with Cassper Nyovest, co-parenting with DJ Zinhle and in extension the nature of her romantic relationship with Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.

Moreover she addressed the contentious matter of her recently trending following her interview on Kaya 959. As previously reported:

Kaya 959 and Sammy T have been the site of criticism recently. This follows after the “awkward” to say the least, interview with rapper and businesswoman Nadia Nakai. It seems that despite Sammy T being a broadcaster with over 30 years of broadcasting experience, proved the point that veterans in radio might just be misogynistic.

This is as Sammy T, who seemed to not know anything about Nadia Nakai except her scandals, reduced Nakai and her professional career to which man she is currently linked to. From insinuating that Nakai and former record label boss, Cassper Nyovest, might have dated to getting the title of her album wrong.

Tweeps and the general public alike were not happy with having Sammy T at the helm of the interview. So much so that despite the hate she gets on Twitter, listeners thought it better to let Ranaka handle female interviews in the future.

While it seems tweeps were up in arms over the manner in which her interview was handled, Nakai seems to her a more diplomatic stance on the matter.

Nadia Nakai appears to have received media training, which she may need to share with her fellow ZAlebs. This is because, when asked to address her Kaya 959 Breakfast interview with Sammy T, she stated that she was irritated.

However, the rest of her words were diplomatic, and she even defended Sammy T for the backlash he received, stating in part that, despite her initial desire to storm out, she decided that:

“I’m not going to disrespect Kaya FM, I’m not going to disrespect the other people who were in the room, I’m not going to disrespect Sammy T either because he is a legend in his own right. But I think in that moment I- you could see I was annoyed. But I was able to get my composure back and think, “You know what, let me just breathe and explain to him what it is really about.”

Additionally, Nakai seemed to assert at the end of her thought that what the interview highlighted was the continuous suggestions of the “boys club” in radio and how that can be misogynistic in its end result.
