The River’s Lunathi ‘Emma’ Mampofu Takes A Break

Tweeps claim The River is about to be canceled, and based on how things appear, the cast is not even pleased with this production.

This week has already seen the departure of three key performers from the Tshedza Pictures production, and now Emma’s actor Lunthi Mampofu is also departing. Phil Mphela, a commentator on entertainment, claims this.

“With Lawrence Maleka having resigned as Zolani, Lunathi, the actress who plays Emma, will be taking a break from the show. Lunathi will be off the show temporarily while writers adjust the story to accommodate changes,” reports Mphela.

The show has drawn a lot of negative attention for its dull plot. If the situation does not change, viewers believe this will be the show’s final season. “Season 6 of The River should be the last. They should go all out and produce the best season of the entire run. Fight for money to blow up the mansion is the must.Tshedza is working on a new project anyway so they can afford to let go of The River,” wrote Phil Mphela.

Another Twitter user wrote “The river needs to do better with storyline ya Lindiwe and Zweli’s family. it can’t be all the time they come back they want to steal money. they deserve better pls #TheRiver1Magic.”

Others have even stopped watching the show until writers do justice. “A week ago, I chose peace and self-love and removed The River from my “Continue watching” list. Maybe November will make more sense. Will reconsider then, because wow what a joke it has become,” she wrote.

Yesterday, Hlomla Dandala, who plays Zweli Dikana, Lawrence Maleka, who plays Zolani Dlamini, and Ncetezo, who plays Paulina Dlomo, all announced their departure from Mnet.

They are leaving for “greener pastures,” and the show wishes them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.

“We would like to thank Hlomla, Lawrence and Tango for their priceless contributions to the show, as well as the incredible work that went into giving their characters life. They all brought professionalism, dedication, presence and charisma to the table, and we have loved working with them on the show. We look forward to seeing what their adventure holds,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels on M-Net.
