‘Somizi Is Royalty’ — DJ Sbu Praises Somizi Mhlongo

Somizi Mhlongo has been praised by DJ Sbu for remaining relevant in the entertainment sector for decades.

In a recent YouTube video, Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, discussed the difficulties he has faced in his career and how he has managed to reinvent himself on a regular basis.

Sbu praised Somizi’s determination, perseverance, and strength.

“I don’t think a lot of 2000s understand the difficult years Somizi has had to go through. He grew up in this industry, he comes from the days of Sarafina!. Somizi’s mother is legendary. Somizi’s father is legendary,

“Somizi is royalty when it comes to South African entertainment, whether you are talking presenting, television, performing, reality shows. Somizi has done it all. There isn’t anything Somizi has not done in this industry. Somizi is the god of the South African entertainment industry, and he’s not going anywhere.”

Somizi has been open about the challenges he’s endured on his journey from kid star to veteran in the entertainment industry.

In his book Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit, he recounted his journey, recalling being broke and some of his gaffes making headlines.

After meeting with his Metro FM employers in August 2021, he was ordered to step down from the Metro FM mic. At the time, he was dealing with abuse charges from his former husband Mohale Motaung.

He has now made a comeback on Metro FM’s The Bridge from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., alongside Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina and Khutso Theledi.

Between 6 and 9 a.m., the media personality hosts The Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good with Mat Elle.
