The Times Drake Proved To Be A South African Music Lover

Drake has repeatedly demonstrated his love for all things South African.

The Canadian-born rapper has promoted Mzansi through various channels, ensuring that his name remains on South Africans’ lips.

When the award-winning actor visited South Africa in 2016, he was greeted formally and warmly.

It appears he might return to the country as he has once again unveiled his massive love for the beautiful talents that exists in SA.

Below is the times Drake proved to be a lover of South African music.

1. Black Coffee

The Grammy-award winning DJ and the international rapper share a beautiful bond; they have grown their relationship from business partners to being brothers. Drake is a huge fan of Black Coffee, and he has exuded his love for the DJ’s talent by working together with him, which was evident in 2022. The DJ was the exective producer of the rapper’s Honestly, NeverMind album. The rapper has also grooved with the DJ at clubs and other events.

2. Tresor

Drake brought on Tresor as a writer and producer on his certified lover boy album #CLB back in 2021

“Hey Africa , TRESOR is on Certified Lover Boy Truly Honored to have been invited to write and produce new music with my brother @Drake for his new album Certified Lover Boy #CLB Drake feat. @temsbaby Thank you for making a room for me and for your kindness,” he said.

3. Uncle Waffles

DJ Uncle Waffles quickly made headlines after the American rapper followed her on Instagram and a video clip of her performing at a show hit over 3 million views on Twitter.

While we assumed the Drake saga was over, the international star was on Waffles Live Video.

A screenshot of the attendance was shared, and Drake’s Instagram page was marked as one of the viewers.

This incident has made the DJ’s price go up and people have presumed collaboration between the two talents.

4. Esona

Black Coffee was not the only South African who has worked their magic on Drake’s project. His son Esona has also added a touch to the album, having produced “Texts Go Green” on Drake’s album.

Esona took to Twitter and shared that he had produced “Texts Go Green”, which already seems to be a favourite among fans.

In recent months, Esona has been seen around the world with his Grammy award- winning father at some of his shows. It is safe to say that he was not just at the shows for “na enjoyment” but actually learning from his producer father.
