Two senior performers were reportedly fired from SABC 1’s famous daily show Uzalo. According to Isolezwe, Nompilo Maphumulo, who plays Nosipho, and Menzi Biyela, who plays Pastor Gwala, are departing the show since their contracts were not renewed.
Nosipho has been with the show from its inception, but she was let go after talks.
Nosipho and Poster Gwala’s contracts have not been renewed which means that their characters have come to an end. Omuhle, on the other hand, resigned now and didn’t even wait for the filming of the season to end as he was complaining about the changes surrounding her character that will happen when the new season starts. She just got annoyed and didn’t want to continue filming,” said a source.
Omuhle’s exit has apparently caused a mayhem in the show as actors who were supposed to shoot have stopped shooting. “The filming has stopped for the actors who were supposed to work with Omuhle, as he is not at work. She was upset by the changes in her contract complaining that she left everything in Johannesburg, when she came down to KwaZulu-Natal to film the show because he liked the contract he was given,” explained the source.
Omuhle revealed last week that she had left the production with immediate effect. According to Zimoja, Gela left after a contractual disagreement.
“She is fuming. She decided not to show up because she feels disrespected. I don’t blame her, how do you agree on certain terms with an actor and then you change the contract. That is unfair,” said a source.
In response to the rumors, the actress confirmed that she’s left “Yes, I’ve unfortunately made the decision to exit, I can’t say much right now but I will certainly agree I am not happy and saw it fit to dismiss myself from the production with immediate effect”
Taking to Instagram she wrote“I’ve made the decision to leave the show with immediate effect; everything said in this article is 100% true and I have nothing further to add or dispute.”
