Twitter users trolled South African-born billionaire Elon Musk and his “baby mama” Grimes after she announced in a tweet on March 24 that they had changed their daughter’s name to “Y.”
Claire Elise Boucher, better known as Grimes, is a Canadian musician who has two children with the Pretoria-born billionaire.
Grimes announced that she Elon Musk have changed the name of their baby girl — from Exa Dark Sideræl. The one year old now goes as “Y” or “Why”. Grimes revealed she wanted the toddler’s name to be “?” but the government would not recognise that.
“She’s Y now, or “Why?” or just “?” (But the government won’t recognize that). curiosity, the eternal question, .. and such,” she wrote.

Grimes and Musk also have a son named X Æ A-XII together, who is affectionately known as X. This could be why their baby girl is now “Y”. Musk has eight other children:
- Twins Griffin and Vivian, Triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai with ex-wife Justine Musk.
- The pair also had another son together in 2002, but he lost his life to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old.
- Musk also has a pair of twins with his Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis
