Thabo Molefe, the radio personality Tbo Touch, has spoken out about his Royalty Soapie Awards absence. He felt disrespected, according to SundayWorld, when he was invited to the awards through his social media channels.
However, in light of the social media invitation, the famous media personality decided to forego the Royalty Soapie Awards. Tbo Touch was invited to the awards to present veteran actress Connie Chiume with the lifetime achievement award.
THE REASONS FOR THE ROYALTY SOAPIE AWARDS SNUB
He has since faced backlash for missing the Royalty Soapie Awards, which were held on Saturday night at Galleria in Kramerville. Following the snub, the award was presented to Connie Chiume by celebrated comedian Moo Popps.
Whilst on his Metro FM drive show Touch Down, he swiped at the event organizers as he defended his decision to bluetick the awards. The bubbly on-air media personality made it known that the showrunners didn’t invite him through the proper channels as required.
“There are correct procedures that must be followed. For instance, you wouldn’t expect Black Coffee to accept an invitation to present some awards by simply sending a DM [direct message]. With that stated, I would want to apologise to Mama Chiume and promise that the following year, I will make sure that I arrive on time and have received the appropriate invitation,” he said.
Tbo Touch has it that he was stunned when they had to ask about his whereabouts, yet, they did not invite him properly to the awards. On the other hand, according to Sunday World, publicist Simphiwe Majola confirmed his invitation but made it known that a misunderstanding led to his absence.

However, in recent years Tbo Touch has made all sorts of headlines for the wrong reasons. Many think he is arrogant, but Tbo Touch has consistently rubbished the claims.
With an illustrious career spanning years, Tbo Touch has been dubbed the wealthiest on-air personality in South Africa.
No doubt he has the plug and the bling too. He went down in the history books of Radio when he brought Floyd Maywethar to Metro FM. He has rubbed shoulders with DJ Khaled and Jay Z personally. Undoubtedly, this has made him one of the most celebrated on-air personalities in Mzansi and globally.
