Bongani Mohosana, better known as Murdah Bongz, celebrated one year since rebranding himself as Mörda, as revealed in an Instagram post on April 3.
It’s been a year since Murdah Bongz, formerly of Black Motion, went solo and rebranded himself as Mörda. The father of two took to Instagram to mark one year since rebranding himself.
“One year later from the birth of Mörda. It’s been a crazy ride but I didn’t do it alone. Thank you to everyone who embraced the change,” he wrote.
“I’m so inspired to do more because I know now the music is what moves us. Here’s to continuing the journey together 🥂,” he continued.

At the time of the change, many Tweeps speculated that his “wife” DJ Zinhle was behind the rebrand. DJ Zinhle and Mörda refer to each other as “husband” and wife” after the musician paid lobola for the DJ. However, the pair have not yet held their wedding ceremony. On an episode of DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected, the businesswoman revealed that they planned on having their wedding after they’ve built a home together.
Mörda was recently praised for being “dad of the year” after he shared a video of him dancing with DJ Zinhle’s daughter Kairo. DJ Zinhle welcomed Kairo with slain rapper AKA in 2015. AKA was shot dead outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, in Durban on 10 February.
DJ Zinhle and Murdah Bongz also have a daughter together — one-year-old Asante Mohosana.
