SEE: Thembi Seete Wins Best Female Movie Star Award

Last Monday, 20 February, South African music icon Thembi Seete announced that she had won Best Female Movie Star of 2022 at the African Choice Awards. She said she never expected to win, making it all the more surreal to finally hold the trophy after it traveled all the way from Nigeria.

The humbled and grateful timeless singer-turned-actress couldn’t stop crying on Instagram. She expressed gratitude to the African Choice Awards, her family, and, of course, her fans for their support and votes.

Seete posted a series of photos of her award to her social media accounts with the caption,

“Happy Monday, guys ❤️. My award has finally arrived from Nigeria @africachoiceawards

First, I thank God, my family, and @africachoiceawards for this recognition; I’m honoured.

“This award means a lot to me 🙏🏾Guys Guys 📢thank you so much for your support and for voting Enkosi 🙏🏾❤️, she added.

According to KayaFM, the African Choice Award is a prestigious award show in the continent that hosts annual ceremonies to honour TV and entertainment talent who work on and off-screen. They are also said to recognise exceptional success in the creative, fashion, and entertainment industries.

Seete also shared a video online and admitted she never believed that she would win the award. She said she was just grateful to have been nominated and shared that she was “so surprised” when she won.
