Tweeps Pissed As A-Reece Ranks Sixth On MTV Base’s Hottest MCs 2022

Tweeps Confused as A-Reece Ranks Sixth on MTV Base’s Hottest MCs 2022. The MTV Base Hottest MCs list from last year was revealed in a two-part special that premiered on MTV Base and generated a considerable amount of debate on Twitter. Last year there was not much argument as Blxckie and Big Zulu were considered to have had the best year in the game.

Tshego Koke, a member of the MTV Base Culture Squad, convened with SA hip-hop experts this year as they dissected the part 1 list of the Hottest MCs in 2022. The panel include; Kyeezi, French Fry, Uncle Partytime, Misa Narrates, Marz Ambrosio and Fif Laaa.

As the panel started to unpack the list the most notable talking point that sparked the debate was the inclusion of Cassper Nyovest as number 10 on the list. Metro Fm Radio DJ Kyeezi, real name Khanya Siyengo made a point about why Cassper Nyovest should not be on the list. The media personality claimed that the rapper did not release songs worthy of being named the year’s Hottest MC.

Without diminishing what Cassper has contributed to hip-hop culture, Kyeezi stated that the rapper is the best marketer in the business, but that this year he fell short musically. “Cassper is one of the best marketers in the game and musically I think this year if you listen to what has been happening with other genres people pay attention to songwriting and that’s where I think Cass has missed it. Without songs my dawg you cannot be on this list,” he said.

Despite Cassper causing a stir amongst the pundits on whether he should be on the list or not, the most controversial moment was when MTV Base ranked A-Reece at number 6. The rating of the Paradise hitmaker may not sit well with the majority of his fans and other SA hip-hop lovers. South African hip-hop enthusiasts flocked to Twitter to express their outrage at A-Reece being placed sixth after the songs he released this year.

Not long ago, the Revenge Club Records boss made headlines after he pulled out of the SA hip hop awards. The rapper did not give an explanation as to why he and his older brother Jay Jody are no longer participating in the forthcoming awards.
