[WATCH] Showmax Releases The Wife’s Final Season Trailer

Showmax just released a teaser for the third and final season of The Wife, a telenovela that has won multiple awards, broken records, and topped Twitter. On November 10, 2022, the smash hit Showmax Original will return with its most exciting season yet. Three new episodes will be released every Thursday until 2023.

Season 3 is about a Tswana doctor named Naledi Montsho and a Zulu taxi driver named Qhawe. Naledi is played by Gaisang K. Noge (House of Zwide, Thando), and Qhawe is played by DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Favourite Rising Star winner Kwenzo Ngcobo, who Twitter has called “the Woolworths of amadoda.”

In Season 2, Twitter went crazy over how well Naledi and Qhawe got along right away, but Kwenzo says their love story is just getting started. “When two lovers meet, it’s always exciting and sweet,” says the actor who was born in Port Shepstone. “However, after a few months, problems start to show up. That’s when all the trouble starts.”

When Season 3 starts, Naledi has been taken, and the crimes of the Zulu brothers are now all over the news. These are just the first of many problems that Naledi and Qhawe will have to deal with this season. Even though Qhawe is the nicest of the Zulu brothers, he is still a member of a powerful crime family. And Naledi? Well, it looks like the brothers Zulu may have finally met their match in their future wives’ families.

Kwenzo calls this season “a story about two people fighting for love,” adding, “What Qhawe and Naledi have is beautiful. People will witness this couple facing numerous challenges and their world being rocked hard. There are many people who are in love but are in situations that make it difficult for them to love each other, and I believe this story will be very relatable to them. It’s really something beautiful.”
“One thing about Qhawe and Naledi, they love each other,” says Gaisang, who hails from Vaal. “Their relationship is a journey but even in that journey they continue to love each other. Even through obstacles, they continue to be madly in love all the way.”

She says she hopes viewers will find the new season healing, “I don’t want people to be afraid of love,” she says. “I hope this season brings fans joy and makes them excited to put themselves out there and to love again.”

The Wife was the most watched show on Showmax ever. It won 2022 DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers’ Choice awards for Kwenzo (Rising Star) and Abdul Khoza (Best Actor). Bonko Khoza won Best Actor and Abdul Khoza won Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 SAFTAs, where The Wife was up for 10 awards, including Best Telenovela.

Zikhona Sodlaka is back as Mandisa, the role for which she was nominated for a SAFTA. Khanyi Mbau and Mondli Makhoba are back as Zandile and Nkosana, the main characters in Season 2. Mbalenhle Mavimbela is also back as Hlomu, the main character from Season 1. Her brother Langa, played by Linda Majola, is also back.

Fans get their first look at SAFTA winner Wiseman Mncube (Jama in eHostela), who is taking over for Bonko Khoza as Mqhele. This is the only change that has been confirmed for this season.

Season 3 goes beyond the taxi business in Johannesburg to Royal Thabeng and the North West. New cast members include Sello Motloung (Blood Psalms) as Naledi’s father, Kgosi; Stoan Seate (Bongo Maffin) as Sefako, Qhawe’s rival for Naledi; Lungelo Mpangase (eHostela, Lingashoni, Mzali Wam) as X

This season, the Zulu brothers Sambulo, Mqoqi, and Ntsika, played by Sipho Ndlovu, Thulane Shange, and Swelihle Luthuli, will have bigger parts.
