Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize and her family have jetted to Dubai for a getaway.
The reality TV star and businesswoman said the trip was inspired by her having had a “surprising and shocking” experience while in Congo when her soccer team Royal AM made their debut at the CAF (Confederation of African Football) against TP Mazembe.
“As a young team who have made their debut in CAF this year we are learning a great deal about the football culture in other African countries. I, for one, am learning how antagonist a patriarchal society can be.
“We were beaten 2-0. It’s OK. But there was a time when I felt sorry for my guys … People getting into the stadium and the match commissioner saying nothing. People going into the field interrogating my goalkeeper. I was under stress.”
Shauwn shared a video of them leaving home to catch their flight.
“Family vac. I was mistreated in Congo and then my family said how about lunch in Dubai? The rest is history.”
MaMkhize’s son Andile Mpisane shared a video of them arriving in the UAE and hopping into a McLaren with his wife Tamia.
